چکیده

An increased frequency of mitoses with centromere separation affecting all chromosomes was found in lymphocyte cultures of couples with recurrent spontaneous abortions. This anomaly was recorded in six individuals out of seventy couples (one hundred and forty individuals) with recurrent miscarriages. The abnormal behaviour of centromeres may predispose the individual to cell division errors, the consequence of which may be a spontaneous abortion.

I-35: Genetic Aberrations in Early Development:The Origins and The Fates

Genetic aberrations are commonly seen in human preimplantation embryos. Non-disjunction and premature division of a chromosome are common in both meiosis and mitosis divisions. The expected result for meiotic aneuploidies is full aneuploidy in the later stages whereas mosaicism is the most frequent event in the cleavage and blastocyst stages. The main causes for mosaicism are post-zygotic event...

Successful Use of Biliary Duct Balloon Dilator in Repairing Post-Surgical Esophageal Stricture in premature infant

Congenital esophageal atresia needs to be surgically corrected as soon as possible. Some will present with post surgical stricture that needs to be dilated by a balloon dilator. This procedure is difficult in premature born due to infant esophageal size and availability of equipments. We herby report the first case in a premature infant with post surgical esophageal stricture of esophageal atre...

A REC8-Dependent Plant Shugoshin Is Required for Maintenance of Centromeric Cohesion during Meiosis and Has No Mitotic Functions

During meiosis, sequential release of sister chromatid cohesion (SSC) during two successive nuclear divisions allows the production of haploid gametes from diploid progenitor cells. Release of SSC along chromosome arms allows first a reductional segregation of homologs, and, subsequently, release of centromeric cohesion at anaphase II allows the segregation of chromatids. The Shugoshin (SGO) pr...

Meiosis I chromosome segregation is established through regulation of microtubule–kinetochore interactions

During meiosis, a single round of DNA replication is followed by two consecutive rounds of nuclear divisions called meiosis I and meiosis II. In meiosis I, homologous chromosomes segregate, while sister chromatids remain together. Determining how this unusual chromosome segregation behavior is established is central to understanding germ cell development. Here we show that preventing microtubul...

Histone H3 Localizes to the Centromeric DNA in Budding Yeast

During cell division, segregation of sister chromatids to daughter cells is achieved by the poleward pulling force of microtubules, which attach to the chromatids by means of a multiprotein complex, the kinetochore. Kinetochores assemble at the centromeric DNA organized by specialized centromeric nucleosomes. In contrast to other eukaryotes, which typically have large repetitive centromeric reg...
